Odoo Timesheets in pictures

Odoo Timesheets is powerful. Here is what it looks like.

We build an app on top of Odoo, so we know Odoo Timesheets from the inside. It is more than a list of hours: it is tied to your projects, your sales, your invoices and your people. Below in real screenshots of Odoo Community 19, with fictitious demo data.

Hours that belong to a project

In Odoo, a timesheet line never stands alone: it belongs to a project, usually to a task, and to an employee. So without any extra work you know how much time went into a project, who worked on it, and on what.

In the list of all timesheets you group by project (or by task or employee) and see the totals right away. The list is editable in place, and the sales order item column shows which hours go to which customer order.

A budget per task

Give a task an allocated time and Odoo tracks how much of it has been used. The task itself shows the hours in their own tab: who, when, what and how long. When a task goes over budget, the percentage turns red.

From hours to invoice

Add Sales and it really comes together. Sell a service "based on timesheets", and Odoo creates the project or task when the sales order is confirmed. Every timesheet line on it counts in the Delivered column, and Create Invoice puts the delivered hours on the invoice. No retyping, no spreadsheet in between. How to set it up is explained in invoicing timesheets in Odoo.

Reports without a spreadsheet

Under Reporting you find the hours by employee, by project and by task, as a pivot table or a graph. Click a header to drill down, swap rows and columns, and download the table to Excel. To see costs, Odoo uses the employee's hourly cost; with Sales you also see which share of the hours gets invoiced.

One source for your whole company

Because the hours live in Odoo itself, the rest of Odoo can work with them:

  • Project: progress and budget per task and per project.
  • Sales and Invoicing: hours on the sales order and the invoice, with a lock on invoiced lines.
  • Employees and time off: the employee on every line, and with the right module approved time off shows up as a timesheet line.
  • Reporting: everything in the same database, without export and import.

That is why we keep Odoo as the source. More practical advice is in Odoo Timesheets: tips and tricks.

Want a fast interface for your team on top?

Odoo is strong when it comes to projects, sales and invoices. The entering itself, day after day, is something many teams enjoy less: a list with many fields, small buttons on a phone, and on Community no week grid or timer.

That is what TimeViking is for. Your team enters its hours in a week calendar, a week grid, with quick typing or in the mobile app, and TimeViking puts them in Odoo, on the right project and the right task. Odoo stays the source; you change nothing in it. You can try it free for 30 days, or first read how the Odoo integration works.

Odoo is a trademark of Odoo S.A. TimeViking is a product of Software Services BV and is not affiliated with Odoo S.A. The screenshots show Odoo Community 19 with fictitious demo data.

Try TimeViking with your own Odoo.

Free for teams of up to 3 users, forever. Larger teams get a 30-day free trial, no card needed.

Frequently asked questions

Are these real screenshots of Odoo?

Yes. We took them on our own test installation of Odoo Community 19, with the Project, Timesheets and Sales apps, and fictitious companies, people and projects. Odoo runs in English, its default language. Odoo Enterprise and Odoo Online look different in a few places.

Do I need Odoo Enterprise for what is shown here?

No. Everything on this page is in Odoo Community: Project, Timesheets (hr_timesheet) and invoicing hours (sale_timesheet). Enterprise adds, among other things, the grid view, the timer and timesheet validation.

Do I need TimeViking to use Odoo Timesheets?

No. Odoo Timesheets works on its own. TimeViking is for teams that want to enter their hours faster: in a week calendar, with quick typing or on their phone. The hours end up in the same Odoo.
